2013 Chattanooga ISSA Elections

Attention all members of the chapter:

Pursuant to our charter and by-laws, three positions for the Board will be elected this year before December 31st.

The positions that are currently open for election are:

Vice President/Membership Director

This position assists the President and substitutes for him when the President is not able to carry out required duties.  The Vice President is also the closest contact most members have to the chapter on a regular basis.  The Vice President crafts announcements, announces meetings and events, and generally lays out the chapter activities for the members.  S/he also reaches out to members to understand the membership’s needs and wants.

Program/Sponsor Director

Sponsors are the lifeblood of our chapter. Without the generous support of the Information Security Community vendors, our chapter would not be able to bring the members the meetings and events we enjoy.  This Director position keeps in contact with vendors throughout the region and also with national vendors to ensure that they continue to support our chapter and have opportunities to sponsor our events.

Communications Director

The Director of Communications makes our public face possible. Through management of our chapter website, as well as other communication tools and devices, this Director keeps our members and interested parties informed about our activities.

This year two of your Directors are standing for re-election.  The Director of Communications, Shayne Champion has indicated that he intends to stand for re-election to the Board.  Our Sponsor/Program Director Brad Curtis has also indicated that he will stand for re-election.

Nominations

Nomination forms will be made available for all open positions after our Q4 Chapter meeting and elections will commence as soon as the nomination period closes.

Election Period

The completion of the election cycle for the Chattanooga Chapter of the ISSA will be concluded by November 30, 2013.  A Board meeting of the new Directors will occur in December to outline and develop our plans for next year.

None of the Director positions acts in isolation.  Our Board works as a cohesive group with cross-training and support for all other Board members by each of us.  Directors must be able to work well with the other Board members, and to take on special projects and activities with little direction.

As a strictly volunteer organization we are always looking for folks who would like to offer their time and talents t our chapter.  Please consider running for one of the open offices (self-nominations are accepted).  Additionally, if you would prefer, you may reach out to the Board through any of the Directors and let us know you would like to volunteer for other than a Director position.  We are always looking for people to assist with events.

Please watch for the nomination forms and make sure that you nominate people you feel are qualified (they must be aware you are nominating them and must accept the nomination to be placed on the ballot).

Please also make sure that you take the time to vote when voting starts.  The Board of our chapter prides itself on being responsive to our members.  We need to know who you want to represent you on the Board.
